The Varasiddhi Vinayagar Temple was built around 1979 in Besant Nagar, Chennai. The presiding deity was orignally a small idol worshpped opposite its current location and was moved after the temple was developed and can be seen above the idol of Valampuri Varasiddhi Vinayagar with his consort Siddhi. Images of thirty two forms of Lord Ganesha are seen in the temple mandapam. Shrines dedicated to Krishna, Dakshinamurthy, Murugan and Durga are also housed in the temple.

The Commissioner, Hindu Religious and Charitable Endowments (HR&CE), Government of Tamilnadu, has raised certain objections regarding private entities offering spiritual services at temples under the control of the HR&CE.
