On the east coast road of Tamilnadu between Vedaranyam and Uppur is the village of Thondi which enshines a very benevolent Lord Ganesh. In this temple, the deity is housed without a vimanam (tower over the sanctum). The Ganesha Pancharatha Sthothram by Adi Shankara is dedicated to Thondi Vinayagar.
