Nag Panchami

Nag Panchami is observed on the 5th day of the bright half of shravan (July-August). On this day nag, cobras and snakes are worshipeed. THe images of Nag deities made of silver, stone and wood are bathed with water and milk and then worshipped.Some people observe fasts and feed Brahmins on this day. It is also observed as Bhratri Panchami and women with brothers worship on behalf of them.
Snakes are realted to many deities like Lord Brahma, Lord Vishnu and Lord Shiva. All images of Lord Shiva show Vasuki, the snake around his neck. In Krishna Avatar, the Lord subdues Kaliya a monstrous serpent. Lord Vishnu is shown resting on Sheshnaga. 
Worship on this day alleviates Kaal Sarpa Dosha, Vasthu Dosha, protects from negativity and grants good health and a life free of diseases.
