This is one of the three important Shakti Peetams, the other two being Madurai and Kasi. The sanctum faces the Gayatri Mandapam. The beautiful deity of the Devi is in the Padmasana posture, holding a bow of sugarcane and arrows of flowers. She is worshipped as Rajarajeshwari, Maha Tripurasundari and Lalitha Kameswari. Legend has it that the Goddess appeared through the great concavity called Bilakasa to save the Devas from Asuras. The Kamakoti Peetam or Sri Chakram, established by Sri Adi Sankara, is in front of the Goddess and all pujas are offered to this. There are separate shrines for Adi Sandkara and sage Durvasa, a Devi Upasaka. During festival processions, the Devi idol is taken out only after formally seeking Adi Sankara's permission. This is in fulfilment of a divine promise. Kamakshi being the principal Goddess in Kanchipuram, the Siva temples here have no separate sanctum for Shakti.

About Our Service |
Introduction to Pujas
Puja is the act of showing reverence to a god, a spirit, or another aspect
of the divine through invocations, prayers, songs, and rituals. An essential
part of puja for the Hindu devotee is making a spiritual connection with the
divine. Most often that contact is facilitated through an object: an element
of nature, a sculpture, a vessel, a painting, or a print. During puja an
image or other symbol of the god serves as a means of gaining access to the
divine. This icon is not the deity itself; rather, it is believed to be
filled with the deity's cosmic energy. It is a focal point for honoring and
communicating with the god. For the devout Hindu, the icon's artistic merit
is important, but is secondary to its spiritual content. The objects are
created as receptacles for spiritual energy that allow the devotee to
experience direct communication with his or her gods.
Terms of this Service
The representatives of Saranam perform Pujas at the temples on the day of the order. The cost includes communication, courier, postage and our service charges apart from the charges for puja at the temple. Saranam does not represent any of the temples mentioned in the site and this is not a part of any official service that may be offered by any temple or its Board.
Pujas mentioned in this service are the Archana service or equivalent at the temple.
Videos of
Pujas
Because cameras or other photography equipment is strictly not allowed
within the Sanctum Santorum of the temple, we will not be able to videograph
or photograph any of the puja proceedings.
Things that you receive:
1. Puja Ticket - Usually a puja ticket will be sent to you, but sometimes, a
receipt is given in the temple, that bears your name is also sent to you.
This again depends on the temple.
2. Prasad - This may be Vibuthi, Kumkum, Chandan or Turmeric - this depends
on the temple that you choose.
3. Flowers - Some temples give only flowers (Tulsi leaves) as prasad. In
such cases, that is sent to you.
What do I get when I order?
If you have ordered for an archana in any of the temple, this is what you
actually receive as prasad. Kindly note, that whatever is received in the
temple is sent to you. However, we do not send you any kind edibles, what so
ever.
When
will my order arrive?
Already placed an order? You can find out when it will be delivered by
tracking your orders online. To calculate when you will receive an item, you
need to consider the availability of the items you are ordering as well as
the shipping option you select. Here's the equation we use:
Longest Item Availability + Shipping Time = Total Delivery Time
For example, a few items on the site show 24-hour availability. If you
select Standard Shipping for U.S. shipments, your shipping time will be 7 to
10 business days, depending on the type of shipping that you choose. This
means your total delivery time will be 1 day (availability) + 7 to 10 days
(shipping time). So you can expect to receive this item 8 to 12 days after
you place your order.
What if my order includes several items with different availabilities?
You should use the longest availability time in your order. That's because,
multiple-item orders are held for shipment until all items are available.
(For instance, if you order three items, and two have an availability of 24
hours while one has an availability of 2 to 3 days, your order will ship in
2 to 3 days.) |
